been a long, lonely lonely lonely, time......bum, bada bum.....(insert rest of Zeppelin's drum roll here)

yah, yah, haven't been blogging, was happy posting pics from phone, but then i switched phones, and can't for the life of me figure out how to add any text to my pics from this dangnabit "non-smart" phone. My old Samsung Mythic kept freezing up and i couldn't do ANYthing, cause it was all touch screen. dead in the water. could answer a call but not make one. So after three phones, they (being AT&T---cuz I work there, but not in wireless) finally agreed to replace it prior to my contract being up to a different phone. I was all "YAY" until I found out I could NOT have the iPhone (BOOOO!!!) nor could I get a Smartphone (aka windows, crackberry, android) because my plan is a regular ole data plan, not a smartphone plan. (DOUBLE BOOO!!!!!!) So I'm back stuck picking out of the phones that not even the un tech savviest third grader would want. GRRRRR!

So I picked the Pantech Laser. This one is the newest of the "texting phones" and I can go online to twitter or facebook with just one icon on the touchscreen which only works for that. icons & the dialing when in portrait mode. In Landscape, the qwerty keyboard is only an actual slide out keyboard. This is the slimmest slider on the market, and the amoled screen is beautiful. the stock photos are extremely high def looking to me, but the touch screen is still resistive rather than capacitative I believe. It doesn't respond as well as the ones on the smartphones and sometimes is very hard to control the speed at which you just scrolled something. boo.  The camera is also very sucky compared to the Mythic's camera. Samsung's phones also have a great little photo editor program which allows you to apply effects/filters to your photos. This is only color/b&w/sepia. Boo. Not good for a foodie who is addicted to taking pics of her meals. I have gotten bad blurry pics and since there is no flash, I can't even take a picture of our black kitteh to send to my hubs. Well. I only have until NEXT OCTOBER to wait. grrrrrrrr. Then I am getting an iPhone. Whatever the latest and greatest iPhone may be out there. Hopefully it's the 5 and it blows them all out of the water. .....................I deserve it.

Operation Beautiful in stores today

well since I am changing this blog from a stampy blog to a foodie/bookworm blog, today's post is apropos. I am excited to be able to purchase a ticket to the Healthy Living Summit to be held next week in Chicago and one of the many reasons is that I may get a chance to meet the wonderful young lady whose book is about to change the lives of many women. Caitlyn Boyle started posting random acts of kindness notes all over the place, for women (and men) starting with You Are Beautiful on a mirror in a ladies room. I love this idea. Girls are brought up with self esteem issues just by default, due to magazines, tv and advertising. She started blogging about it and it's just grown from there.

The book that is being released today is Operation Beautiful and can be found at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon & Indiebound.com. I am planning on ordering a couple copies today, and bringing them with to HLS. One will be a gift for a special young lady in my life, my Goddaughter Justina and the other will be for me. I may buy a third, just to have handy for a gift...

I also want to add, I am finishing up the latest Janet Evanovich, Sizzling Sixteen and it's awesome, just like all the others!

Long time, no blog....

Sorry folks, been in no blog land for a while now. I was off work at the day job and not logging much computer time. I needed a break! I am back to log a bunch of books I've read while off work and around the holidays. When I say-a bunch-I am talking like 10 of them or something close to it, I didn't really count yet. I have to come back to reality though since I returned to work this past Friday (to ease back into it you know) and I'm back to 5 days a week until I decide to take some vaca time again. I had about 18 days to use up, so between November and December I only worked about half those months. Phew too much home time and I'm almost glad to be back to a normal schedule again!

The good news is that the new catalogs will be here soon (they come out the 19th and I pick them up the 24th) and if you want one, please let me know. I will only have 10 of them to start and I will be charging $5 for them this time. Please tell me asap if you want one as I expect them to go quickly, especially after I email my list of stampin groupies!

Happy Gnu Year 2009, I hope it ends up better than 2008!

ahhhh, summah!

No stamping again. just an observation. On an early summer night, turn off your porch light and stand out in your backyard and watch the fireflies twinkle. We have lots of trees in our yard, so it's absolutely beautiful watching them dance around in back. Makes me think of being a kid again. Except now, I don't want to chase them. Just watch.

I Love Summer! Always have, always will. Don't know why I still live in Illinois.

Here's my list of why I *HEART* summer!

1-Cold hurts. It just does. Those of us with creaky joints and wicked sore backs know this for a fact.

2-You don't have to shovel sunshine

3-Electricity to run the window a/c unit is still cheaper than the gas to heat the chilly drafty old mess of a house I live in.

4-You don't have to wear 75 layers of clothing, so you are less restricted and can walk without looking like Ralphie's little brother- "I Can't Put My Arms Down Randy" from the Christmas Story.

5-It's too cold to stand outside in the winter holding a frosty slushy drink (alky or not alky-holic beverages-it's too cold no matter what)

6-It's even too cold in some months of winter to stand outside around the fire pit. On a cool June night, it's PERFECT

7-You don't have to wear socks if you don't want to in the summertime!

8-I can drive without again feeling like Randy from The Christmas Story, all bundled and trapped by a seat belt

9-short days do not make a happy lisa

10-Sun, long days, having the option to stand outside without putting extra layers on top of the layers I was already wearing. outdoor music-concerts, festivals, Food on a stick, the state or county fair, farmers markets, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes just picked, blueberries and cherries that were actually grown in a 100 mi radius instead of another country, Long walks w/o freezing my patootie off, frostbite is a thought of the past. I was just meant for summer.

didja notice????

that I'm trying to post pretty often now. I guess just to get my few bucks a month justification for a blog. anyhoo, todays subject is this: the scallop punch.

Let me tell ya, I have no clue where i'd be without this little wonder....I *heart* my scallop punch. and since my friend patti took off and moved to AZ last week, I've been without. SU had them on backorder, and my new one is winging it's way to me, but I gave patti mine, cause she ordered one and it didn't come w/the rest of her order...... so she could make the almost cross country (ok so it's a diagonal, semi cross country from chicago burbs to pa-ho-nix (the guy on the fedex commercial calls it)-but it's still a long ways away-long enough we can't lunch together anymore daily) trip to her new digs in warmer climes.

so tomorrow I should be able to make up a photo tut of how to make a scallop punch shamrock! Stay tuned. (i could type something brilliant at any moment!)
